We have been taking part in Walk to School Week (Monday, 3rd – Friday, 7th June). Two classes each day met at the Sir James Hawkey Hall in time to walk to Avon House for the start of the school day. We were really lucky with the glorious weather which enabled the children to enjoy their walks in the sunshine.
While walking to school the children spoke about why it is important to exercise regularly and walk.
The Walk to School Week has coincided with Health Living Week in which the school is also participating. All activities during the week, as well as the weekly menu, have supported this initiative.
We are proud to announce that on Monday we submitted some of our project work to the Healthy Living website and along with another school we won the daily prize of £100 which we will use to buy some additional playground equipment to support healthy play activities.
Thank you to all the children and staff who participated in walking.
