On Wednesday, 6th November, the Pre-Prep department had a special themed day to celebrate the Hindu festival of Diwali.
The children worked in mixed aged groups between the four classes from age three to age seven and rotated around six activities. learning about the meaning behind the festival and how it is celebrated.
They enjoyed engaging in the different activities including cooking traditional Indian sweets, learning Indian dance steps and the story of Rama and Sita, designing mehndi patterns, moulding and painting clay diya lamps, making thali plates and creating rangoli patterns.
The children worked well in their mixed aged groups to support each other in developing a range of different skills. It was great to have some of the parents in school to support the activities and the day resulted in an exciting and enjoyable learning experience for all the children.
