Choir wins at Stratford and East London Music Festival

The Avon House School choir took part in the Stratford and East London Music Festival on Monday, 10th February at St Mary’s Church, South Woodford. The choir sang in two categories ‘Primary Religious Songs’ and ‘Primary Two Part Harmony’.

The standard of singing in each group was high from all schools but we were delighted to be the winners in the Primary Religious Songs group.  Mrs Wright, head of music, chose two songs ‘Five Little Stones’ and ‘Par-um-pa-pa-pa-rum’.  The latter song is quite difficult as the choir sings in three parts.

The children were so excited to return to school with a large silver trophy which will take pride of place in school.

The school choir regularly sing to members of the community and they are looking forward to singing their winning entries when they next visit.
