10th-14th February was Shakespeare Week at Avon House School. There was a real buzz around the site as pupils learned more about Shakespeare’s life and times and used a variety of resources to investigate particular themes.
The week proved a resounding success as it offered pupils across the whole school the chance to join in the reading and writing competitions, dress up for a themed assembly and study the Bard at their own level.
A stage fighting workshop, a trip to the Globe Theatre and a visit from actor/author Chris Connaughton were among the highlights of the week. Pride of place must go to the special assembly, however, when pupils recited their own witches’ chants, performed raps and songs and appeared in an array of costumes to gladden the heart of all thespians!
