On Monday, 12th May, 33 pupils consisting of Years 2, 3 and 4 went to the Isle of Wight. Our first port of call was Portsmouth where we visited the Mary Rose Museum which was fascinating. After lunch we had a tour of the Naval Dockyard before venturing on to Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
The ride to the Bernay Hotel was picturesque and on arriving we were met by Geoff and Jeanette Avison, the proprietors, who showed us to our rooms. The dinner that evening was roast turkey and it was delicious.
The weather was extremely kind to us throughout the week, which made our trips to Robin Hill Country Park, Blackgang Chine, Shanklin Beach, the Dinosaur Museum and fossil hunt, Amazon World and Butterfly World that much more pleasurable.
On Tuesday evening after dinner we had the storyteller Sue Bailey entertain us – she was excellent and full of fantastic tales. On the Wednesday evening we all went to Ten Pin Bowling at Ryde. Great fun! To celebrate our last evening there we were treated to a disco, which everybody enjoyed.
After breakfast on the Friday we started our journey home via Butterfly World.
We would like to thank Mr Hickman, Mrs Price, Mrs Lautman, Mrs Chambers and Mrs Syrett for taking good care of us. We learnt a lot as well as having lots of fun. Many of us look forward to visiting the Isle of Wight again in the future.
