London North Independent Schools Association (ISA) Swimming Gala

On Tuesday, 22nd November Avon House competed in the London North ISA Swimming gala at Barnet Copthall pool, next door to Saracens rugby ground at Allianz Park.

A full squad of twenty-four boys and girls from Years 4, 5 and 6 braved the commuting traffic on the North Circular to compete against thirteen other schools.  All events were timed and were 50 metres long except for the 4 x 25m freestyle relay.

Everyone in the team swam with great determination and supported each other with equal enthusiasm.

Unfortunately points were not awarded across the board and so there was no interschool team event but medals were awarded to the first three finishers in each event.

Tough luck to Nayan (Y6) who, after swimming two gruelling lengths of butterfly , was just a fingertip from coming third.

A special mention to  Daisy (Y4), on winning a bronze in the backstroke and on clinching a silver medal in the front crawl too.  This second swim ensured that Daisy has followed on from Ella’s success last year, in also being selected to represent our ISA region in the relay event at the National Championships  at the Olympic pool in January.

Well done Daisy!
