London North ISA Under 11s Mixed Hockey Tournament

On Friday 17th March two Avon House teams competed in the London North ISA U11 mixed hockey tournament at Old Loughtonians with varying fortunes.
The B team lost their first two matches 1-0, including a loss against Howe Green A, the eventual runners-up, before rallying with a resounding 3-0 win against Swaminarayan which helped secure 4th place in a group of six teams.
The A team were involved in a tight, low scoring group of just five sides due to a late withdrawal and a 2-0 win against Howe Green B, a 1-1 draw with Rushmoor ,who went on to win the event, and two goalless draws sealing first place in the group on goal difference and progression to the semi-finals.
Sadly the goal drought continued and another cagey 0-0 resulted in a dreaded penalty shoot-out with three players per side facing the challenge of converting a penalty flick.
Howe Green deftly put two flicks into the the top left hand corner that not even Dharmadev, who had been almost unbeatable, could save and we lost by the cruellest of margins 2-1.
In the 3rd / 4th place match, which started immediately owing to late-running, the side were perhaps understandably a little deflated and lost 1-0 to Gatehouse to come away empty- handed after a morning of tense, competitive tournament play.
Well played Tej and all involved at the end of a hockey season which saw the school come fourth in the National ISA U11 Boys tournament and second in the Redbridge Mixed U11 event too.
