On Tuesday, 10th December the Avon House School Choir sang carols at Woodford Station as the commuters got off the train. This was the first time we have ventured to The Broadway to sing. On Wednesday, 6th November, the Pre-Prep department had a special themed day to celebrate the Hindu festival of Diwali.
The children worked in mixed aged groups between the four classes from age three to age seven and rotated around six activities. learning about the meaning behind the festival and how it is celebrated. Continue reading
On Friday 18th October, we had our annual House Music competition where each House performed three pieces: whole House, small group and individual song.
All the Houses worked hard to rehearse their pieces and the children and staff involved displayed some fantastic performances. The competition was judged and the winner for each category was announced, as well as an overall House winner.
On Wednesday, 16th October Year 3 went to visit the Verulamium in St. Albans. Continue reading
Last week Avon House School took part in Walk to School week. Each day two different classes met at the Hawkey Hall and walked into school. During the walk back to school we observed the environment around us. Thank you to all the staff and children who took part this week and we hope this encourages you to walk to school more often! On Friday, 27th September, Avon House School once again participated in the annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The coffee morning, which was organised by the school’s catering staff, was well supported by parents and staff and raised the grand sum of £463. Many thanks to everyone involved. Continue reading
