How do we know? Well if you look in the school garden we have our first ripe strawberry. Gardening club will be keeping an eye on the salad and fruit we are growing and harvest the produce as it appears. This will be given to the school kitchen to add to the lunch menu. Continue reading
Year 1 had a lovely time at the London Transport Museum on Monday, 1st June. The children went on old buses, steam trains, tube trains and trams. They could steer a bus and drive a tube train through a simulated tunnel and dress up as transport workers. A lady from the museum talked to us about how people travelled around in the past. She gave us old artefacts and we had to guess what they were. We built our own buses too. Continue reading
On Wednesday 20th May, we were honoured to receive a visit from two ladies who came from the Redbridge Road Safety Centre. As we are going to secondary school soon, they talked to us about getting to school safely by using all different types of transport; be it walking or cycling, going on a bus or by car – they all contain have risks associated with them. On 25th April and 12th May two deadly earthquakes hit Nepal, killing thousands of people.
Avon House School are raising money to help the people of Nepal. We were planning to raise £500 at our fundraising day on 13th May, but altogether we raised £700 by wearing our own clothes and rattling buckets! This will help many families who have lost their homes and suffered in the earthquake. £35 will buy a tent, food, clothes and toothbrushes for a family of four. Continue reading
On Tuesday 5th May, Year 6 ventured to Stratford where we enjoyed looking around and playing in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Subsequently, we went to All Star Lanes to play two games of bowling. At the venue, everyone enjoyed a delicious meal with dessert. We all had a brilliant and entertaining day! Continue reading
Year 4’s topic this term is ‘Africa’.
The children had a great afternoon creating their own scenes of African savanna sunsets whilst listening to music from ‘The Lion King’. They have all chosen an African animal to research and will be creating information leaflets on these next week. Continue reading
