Every year the book publisher Random House ask children to design a new cover for a children’s classic book.
This year the book is ‘The Railway Children’ for which the school submitted seven entries.
Some of the best entries have appeared in ‘The Young Times’ section of The Times newspaper (5th July) and among them was the entry by Maya Simms (Year 6). Continue reading
The school would like to congratulate the following children who received a prize at Awards Evening on Tuesday, 3rd July.
During the evening, guest speaker Mr David Kidd inspired the children through the story of the Hare and the Tortoise, a thought provoking message for both pupils, staff and parents. Continue reading
On Monday, 2nd July, children from Years 5 and 6 gave two performances of ‘Wind in the Willows’ to delighted parents and pupils from Years 2-4. Continue reading

As the athletics season comes to a close, our final competitive event was this inter-schools competition.
With a team of sixteen children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 we travelled to Forest School. The afternoon was divided into track and field events. Team spirits were high as we competed against seven other schools. Continue reading
Friday 1st June Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee the staff and children all came to school dressed in red, white and blue. The day commenced with an assembly to celebrate the reign of Queen Elizabeth where the children sang Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and ended with the National Anthem. Last week saw all the children engaged in events welcoming the London 2012 Olympics. The week started with an inspiring talk in assembly from Noel Thatcher who spoke of his journey to win a gold medal in the Paralympics. Noel explained to the children that to have goals and aspirations is a good thing.
