On Wednesday 19th June, Year 5 visited Kentwell Hall to take part in an authentic Tudor experience.
The children entered a time tunnel and were transported back in time to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and smells of the 16th century. Continue reading
A tarantula, cockroach, giant snail, millipede and corn snake were among the creatures which visited the children in Foundation 2, Year 2 and Year 5 on Wednesday, 12th June.
The pupils have been learning about rainforests and minibeasts so it was a real treat to see some of the creatures they had been studying.
Early Friday morning, children at Avon House arrived for school with their dads – not to be dropped off for the school day but to have breakfast. Continue reading
Foundation 2 had an exciting time on Wednesday, 5th June at ‘Cakes & Shakes’ in Loughton. The class enjoyed a fun bus ride and were then spoilt for choice at ‘Cakes & Shakes’ with the option of a chocolate, strawberry or vanilla ice-cream. The children were very well behaved during the trip and were rewarded with one house point each. We had perfect weather too which made the afternoon even more enjoyable! Continue reading
We have been taking part in Walk to School Week (Monday, 3rd – Friday, 7th June). Two classes each day met at the Sir James Hawkey Hall in time to walk to Avon House for the start of the school day. We were really lucky with the glorious weather which enabled the children to enjoy their walks in the sunshine. Continue reading

On Friday, 26th April, we had a special visit from Henry the Hound at our balloon race in support of Haven House Hospice.
The hospice’s mascot watched as the children released some 200 balloons in a sponsored event organized by Morris House. Each balloon was sold for £5, raising the grand total of £1,035. Continue reading
