Four Year 5 pupils, Zaynah Islam, Christian Kuponiyi, Rithvik Marreddy and Ananya Vijay, represented Avon House in a General Knowledge Quiz at Chigwell School on Friday, 13th June.
15 teams took part in the Quiz which featured rounds on ‘Famous Faces’, ‘Famous Places’, ‘Music’ and a ‘Maths Relay’. Excellent teamwork and a good breadth of knowledge meant that Avon House finished in third place and this was an extremely creditable result considering the competition faced on the day.

On Friday, 13th June, the Pre-Prep Department invited their dads for a bacon roll and a cup of tea to celebrate Father’s Day. It was lovely to see so many dads attend and enjoy breakfast with their children for such a special day. Continue reading
On Thursday 12th June, Churchill held a Smoothie Sale to raise money for their chosen charity, Clic Sargent, a children’s cancer charity. The children of Churchill House had voted on the flavours of the smoothies and designed posters to promote the event. Many of the Year 5 and Year 6 members of Churchill House helped to sell the smoothies alongside the staff members of Churchill. The whole school came to buy smoothies to support the event and we raised a great total of £246. Continue reading
As part of our African Adventure topic, Year 1 visited Paradise Wildlife Park for the day on 14th May. Not only did we see some of the African animals we have been learning about (zebras, lions and leopards), but we also saw a range of other animals. We even sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to the tapir and watched as she ate her special birthday cake! Continue reading
On Monday, 12th May, 33 pupils consisting of Years 2, 3 and 4 went to the Isle of Wight. Our first port of call was Portsmouth where we visited the Mary Rose Museum which was fascinating. After lunch we had a tour of the Naval Dockyard before venturing on to Cowes on the Isle of Wight. Continue reading

On Sunday, 23rd March, 27 children and 3 staff cycled around the 1km track at the Redbridge Cycling Centre. This was a project started by Aadam Sheikh in Year 5 to raise funds for WaterAid. Continue reading
