Avon House Preparatory School in Woodford Green Essex hosted a community cake sale in aid of Ukraine. As a Unicef Gold accredited school the Rights Respecting School Council met to discuss ideas on how to support Ukraine’s humanitarian effort and decided that a fundraising bake sale was the best idea for the whole Avon House family to participate in. The cleverly began advertising and organising the fundraiser by drawing up and distributing engaging posters, cutting out Ukraine flags and writing out Unicef articles for using in the cake sale, the Council helped to set up a really polished event. The response from within the school community was huge with an enormous quantity of cakes and cookies to sell, so much so that the sale ran over 2 days. The school collected over £950 in sales and donations to send onto the DEC Ukraine Appeal run by the British Red Cross. Thank you to all those that supported the fundraiser which will help make a difference in Ukraine.
