Passover

Posted: 1st May 2024

a classroom of school children, some raising their hands

This week, Year 2 were very lucky to have a speaker, Mr Grant, come in to speak to us about Passover. We have been learning about Judaism during our RPS lessons, and the children showed an impressive understanding of Passover at the start of the session! Mr Grant took the children through the foods on the Seder plate, including what each food represents. The children remembered that the charoset represented the cement used by Jewish slaves to build the pyramids, and that the salt water represented the tears of the Jews and their suffering. Mr Grant also taught the children about the four questions sung at the Seder meal, and that the   youngest at the table usually has to sing them! The children were then presented with an engaging colouring book to take home. Thank you to Mr Grant for giving up your time to speak to the children today!
