School Trips

School trips and visitors are a key element of school life. Class and year group trips to places of interest are an excellent way of generating fresh enthusiasm for key topics and these take place on a regular basis to a variety of exciting and stimulating destinations, adding to the enjoyment of education.  These include trips to museums, art galleries, zoos and outdoor centres.  At times the whole school may be involved, as was the case in recent visits to the National Gallery and Legoland.

Each term visiting specialists add to the teaching of topics like ‘People who help us’, World War II and the Blitz and historical re-enactments.

We encourage our parents to help with cookery lessons and RE lessons where appropriate and parents have also been involved in our theme days on Diwali,  Chinese New Year and Book Week.

Residential Trips

The Isle of Wight trip, for children in Years 2-4, helps to forge stronger friendships and develop self-confidence and a respect for their peers.  It also offers experiences in a number of exciting and challenging excursions that add to the enrichment of the children’s curriculum.  This has always been a popular week away where many happy memories are shared with the rest of the school upon their return.

During the Easter holidays the Prep Department have the opportunity to ski in Europe.  This excursion is in conjunction with Bancroft’s Prep School.

Our Year 6 pupils attend an outward bound residential trip during the summer term.  This exciting venture offers the pupils the chance to build self-confidence and work as part of a team under the watchful eyes of experienced, enthusiastic instructors.  It stands them in good stead as they embrace the challenges of senior school life.
