Year 1
Our carefully managed approach towards progressing from Foundation Two (Reception) to Year One is supported by our experienced teaching team, to ensure a smooth transition for all pupils.
In Year One, the children start the National Curriculum where all the statutory requirements are taught, as well as our enhancements to the curriculum, which ensures optimum learning opportunities for our pupils. Through our broad and engaging creative curriculum, the children continue to be enthused in their learning using our topic-based approach. The children’s experiences are enriched by a range of educational visits, themed days and themed weeks.
We pride ourselves in providing a happy, well-resourced and stimulating environment, both indoors and outdoors, where the children’s learning is tailored to them as an individual to support their learning journey. Their progress is carefully monitored and regularly assessed to ensure they receive the correct balance of support and appropriate challenge to reach their full potential.
As well as the focus on academic attainment, we also encourage the children to discover a range of other talents and skills through our ever-expanding range of co-curricular clubs. In Year One many new clubs are available for the children to enjoy.
