Congratulations to the Avon House Choir who performed at the Stratford and East London Music Festival on Monday, held at St Mary’s Church, South Woodford. Twenty seven children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 represented us and tried their hardest at this very competitive event, with six other choirs present from other schools in East London. The choir sang in two categories with contrasting songs; Christmas in February with songs ‘The Snowman’ and ‘Baby Jesus Sleeps’ and Junior Choir with the songs ‘Arirang’ and ‘Adiemus.’ The adjudicator, freelance musical director Benjamin Costello, commented on our “Warm dynamics, wonderful presence, pleasing projections, group support with solos and our smooth harmonies.” Mr Reed, Mrs Campbell and Ms Heath are incredibly proud of how our pupils conducted themselves, for the enjoyment they took in their singing and the overall experience. We achieved a brilliant third place in the Christmas in February category and the choir are already looking forward to their next public performance soon.
