On April 29th Avon House hosted the London North ISA tennis tournament at Woodford Wells with five other schools, Sherrardswood, Gatehouse, Normanhurst, Norfolk House and Kingshott competing in a round-robin event. Teams of five players each played their respective opponents in match tiebreaks, first to ten points. At the conclusion of the team event, two separate elimination events for sixteen pupils were played.
Our team comprised Tyler, Eilidh, Zariyan, Konstantin and Amelia and Max and Davina were drafted into the individual tournaments.
All players competed well despite really tricky and windy conditions and the team lost two matches; a narrow 3-2 loss to Gatehouse and then emphatically to Kingshott who went on to beat Gatehouse. Three victories ensured that Avon House finished 3rd , winning 14 out of 25 rubbers.
In the individual tournaments Konstantin was a creditable runner-up, Tyler lost a semi=final and Eilidh and Zariyan won the consolation draws for first round losers.
Well done to all concerned !
