On Wednesday 29th April, our Year 4 pupils were treated to an exciting and hands-on workshop from ZooLab as part of their science learning on habitats.
The session gave the children a unique opportunity to explore a range of fascinating animals, many of which come from rainforest environments. Pupils were able to see, and even hold, some of the animals, making the experience both memorable and engaging.
During the workshop, the children met a variety of animal visitors, including Gary the cockroach, Pepe the tree frog, Flash the giant African land snail, Legsley the tarantula, Samantha the millipede and Ekans (‘snake’ spelt backwards!) the corn snake. Each encounter sparked curiosity and excitement across the group.
The ZooLab expert explained how each animal’s habitat supports its needs, helping the children to better understand how living things depend on their environment for survival. Pupils were encouraged to ask questions throughout, leading to thoughtful discussions and deeper learning.
This workshop supported the children’s understanding of key scientific concepts in a fun and interactive way, and it was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and engagement from everyone involved.
