Launch of Black History Month

Posted: 3rd October 2022

Black History Month

Every year in October, Avon House celebrates Black History Month. This year, our focus will be on black women in history, as we look at their significant achievements, journeys and experiences gained along the way. We will be working closely with our parents and the community throughout this month with a number of workshops and visitors coming into the school. To launch Black History Month, Mr Babra led a whole school assembly alongside a parent of the school and her son who provided information about Nigeria and who spoke to the children in their mother tongue called Yoruba. The parent and child finished with a mini quiz and our children and staff all stood up and danced to traditional music from Nigeria.
