Making our school safer for pupils with allergies.

Posted: 8th June 2026

We are delighted to be working with The Allergy Team to ensure pupils with allergies at Avon House Prep School are kept as safe and supported as possible.

We’ve signed up to join the newly launched Schools Allergy Register. The Register is a list of schools assessed as meeting best practice in managing allergies and who are awarded a trust mark.

We want to take the opportunity to make sure our allergy management is as good as it can be. Supported by The Allergy Team we will be adopting the Schools Allergy Code. This includes updating the Allergy and Anaphylaxis Policy, training all our staff to reduce the risk of allergic reactions happening and to know how to respond in an emergency, and building whole-school awareness of allergies to make sure our everyone in our school community feels safe and included.

Families can support us by:

  • Learning more about allergies and how serious they can
  • Respecting requests not to bring certain foods into school
  • Being mindful of students with allergies if you are hosting an event or helping at an event, either in or out of school.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact our School Welfare Administrator, Miss Tesfay.
