A Rather Wet Wimbledon

Posted: 4th July 2024

On Wednesday 3rd July, eight lucky and well-behaved children attended the 2nd round of The Championships at Wimbledon. Unfortunately, the weather was grey and showery with regular interruptions to play but this did mean that the party “got their steps in” and explored the grounds thoroughly taking in Henman Hill, court 18, the practice courts, main gift shop, Fred Perry’s statue and ice creams! Autographs and balls were obtained from Nicolas Mahut, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Madison Keys plus accompanying photos and an eagle-eyed Mr Evans spotted Eurosport’s main tennis presenter Barbara Schett in the gift shop too. Some super tennis was seen between Fabio Fognini and Casper Ruud and then Felix Auger-Aliassime versus Thanassi Kokkinakis from our seats on court 2. Our main players Tyler and Eilidh were eagerly picking up technique tips. Thanks to Mrs Lord for her patience and stamina and for carrying Angie’s water.
