Year 4 Visit to Celtic Harmony

Posted: 10th March 2025

On Friday 7th March, Year 4 embarked on an exciting educational visit to Celtic Harmony to enhance their learning about the Stone Age. During this immersive experience, the children took part in a range of hands-on activities that brought history to life. They learnt the ancient craft of flint napping, discovering how flint was used to create arrowheads and spearheads for hunting. The children also had the opportunity to test their hunting skills by throwing sticks through targets, just as early humans did. They gathered mushrooms, berries, nuts and plants, gaining an insight into the vital foraging techniques of the time.

Additionally, the children built shelters using logs, twigs, and leaves, working together as a tribe to create safe, functional shelters. The visit concluded with a trading activity, where the children experienced the exchange of goods, mimicking how resources were shared in Stone Age communities. It was an engaging, hands-on adventure that deepened the children’s understanding of life in the distant past.
