World Book Day

Posted: 7th March 2025

This year, World Book Day was all about stepping into the world of books—literally! Instead of dressing up as words, we flipped the idea on its head and took our books’ places, immersing ourselves in their stories. From Foundation 1 to Year 6, children embraced the joy of reading in new and exciting ways, enjoying stories outdoors in the garden, the outside learning area and the playground. The beautiful sunshine made the day even more magical!

A real highlight was the whole-school book swap. Both children and teachers brought in books to exchange, fostering a love of reading while sharing stories with friends. It was heartwarming to see everyone engaged in finding new books to enjoy!

One of the biggest successes of the day was our Picture challenge— where we asked you all to take pictures reading in a strange place. What an imaginative response we had! Children sent in fantastic photos of themselves reading in unexpected locations, from sitting with animals to reading in cars, at the dentist, and so many more creative spots.

To all our keen readers in Year 1 and above—don’t forget that every page you turn counts toward your Reading Challenge! Be sure to log your progress in your reading record.

World Book Day was a fantastic celebration of the joy of reading, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!
