My recount of our trip to Gilwell Park by: Alanna
I eagerly got out of bed and leapt down the stairs. I struggled to eat my breakfast out of excitement. Today was the day of the school trip to Gilwell Park!
Soon after arriving at school, the coach also arrived. I spent the journey chatting with my friend, Harpreet. Before long we were at our destination! I was visiting this activity park after two years. Would it be as much fun as it was last time? I was prepared to get soaking wet!
When we got off the coach we were divided into separate groups. I was delighted to be in a group with several of my friends. Then it was time to begin the activities!
The first activity we did was coracle building. This involved building circular boats and a lot of teamwork. It wasn’t too difficult as we got help from the instructors that were with us. The best bit was when we got in the water with the boat!
Our second activity was shelter building where we built shelters for ourselves out of logs. After we finished we got to go inside our shelter for a while. We needed some help on the first bit when we had to get the really tall logs up vertically but after that we managed ourselves.
By the time it was lunch, I was exhausted and needed to sit down. After lunch we played in the field. Aubrey, Harpreet and I collected acorns together. I found a really large acorn while Harpreet found a tiny one.
The last activity of the day was Gauntlet. In Gauntlet we had to climb a tall vertical assault course. It was difficult for me but I made it up to the middle of the course. Even though I found it hard I still had fun.
Unfortunately, after that it was time to go home so we made our way to the coach and left. I had a little power nap on the way back. It was certainly a school trip to remember.
