Posted: 3rd June 2025

On Monday 2nd June, Years 4 and 6 took an unforgettable journey back in time to the heart of Ancient Egypt with a visit to the Tutankhamun immersive exhibition at the ExCeL Centre, London.

From the moment they stepped inside, the children were transported to a civilisation shrouded in mystery. They explored the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt and uncovered the secrets of one of history’s most iconic figures: Tutankhamun. The experience began with two treasure rooms showcasing beautifully authentic replicas and a selection of original artefacts dating as far back as 4,000 BC. The children were in awe of the intricate statues, delicate vases and exquisite items that once belonged to Egypt’s golden age.

Their journey continued into a vast immersive hall, where history came to life across a breathtaking 360-degree canvas. Through vivid projections and storytelling, the children learned about Egypt’s natural landscapes, cultural heritage, the life of Tutankhamun and the incredible discovery of his tomb by Howard Carter.

One of the highlights was a seated virtual reality experience, which transported the children through the mystical Egyptian afterlife. They virtually walked through the Valley of the Kings and saw history come alive like never before.

To conclude the visit, they witnessed a holographic representation of Tutankhamun’s mummification process. This fascinating display brought to life the intricate rituals and sacred mysteries surrounding the preparation of Egypt’s most famous pharaoh for the afterlife.

It was a truly immersive and inspiring day, sparking curiosity and wonder about the ancient world. The children returned with a deeper understanding of Egyptian history and memories they will treasure for years to come.
