Year 2 and Year 6 pupils joined forces over Black History Month on a collaborative creative quilt project inspired by the book ‘The Patchwork Path: A Quilt Map to Freedom.’ A powerful and moving story that educates children about the Underground Railroad and the unique role quilts played in guiding slaves toward liberty. Looking closely at real-life examples of images stitched to quilts and their hidden messages, Year 2 chose their design, glued and stitched the edges.
Passing the squares to Year 6, our older pupils carefully and patiently stitched them together to create the finished piece.
