Rights Respecting School

UNICEF UK’s Rights Respecting Schools Award seeks to put the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s ethos and culture to improve well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential. The Rights Respecting School Award recognises achievement in incorporating the Convention into a school’s planning, policies and practice. A Rights Respecting School teaches child rights and models rights and respect in all its relationships – between teacher/adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.

Avon House is proud to be a Rights Respecting School. Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that every child has the rights to express their views in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously. Our Rights Respecting School Council (RRS Council) is working to ensure every member of our school community is aware of the UNCRC articles and of children’s rights.
