In assembly this morning, volunteers from 4PH discussed the significance of Mawlid al-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) for Muslims. Although it is an important date in the Muslim calendar, it is not generally celebrated widely.
Yusuf explained, ‘This is because the Prophet himself did not make a fuss on his own birthday, so why should we celebrate it?’ Some families may say extra prayers, go to the mosque or simply have special family time thinking about the Prophet and his teachings.
Ehsaan said, ‘It’s good to learn about what is important in other people’s religions.’
