Pre-Prep assembly had a ‘belonging’ focus this morning that involved our younger learners discussing what it means to belong to somewhere. Ms Lewis, Inclusion Lead, shared a wonderful story of a young man who didn’t quite feel he belonged in his school, and the things his teachers and friends did to help him and involve him in and out of class.
The Pre-Prep then offered ideas for what they would pack in a bag to show their personal ‘belonging’ story to their friends – ‘a bubble wand’, ‘a picture of India’, ‘an aeroplane’, ‘a family photograph’, ‘a favourite dinner’ and ‘flowers that Mummy likes’ were all ideas shared.
With our Paddington Day still fresh in everyone’s minds, the Pre-Prep reflected on this quote from Paddington to finish, “Mrs Brown says that in London everyone is different and that means anyone can fit in. I think she must be right – because although I don’t look like anyone else, I really do feel at home.”
