Successful Swimming

Year 3 have now fully embraced their Prep school swimming lessons. It has been wonderful to see so many children demonstrating a big improvement in their confidence and skills in the pool, from the first lesson in September. For many in 3DC and 3KI, this year was the first time they have experienced floating independently in water, putting their heads under, holding and using floats and walking across the width. For others already in lessons or swimming with older siblings, they are now starting to develop the competence to excel in a broad range of swim related elements such as breathing, stroke development and rotation.

We also have Kaelan (Year 3) and Kai (Year 5), who are representing Avon House and the London North area at the ISA National Swimming Finals at the London Aquatics Centre next week. Everyone wishes them the best of luck!

Alena said, “I like swimming in the pool and playing ‘Charlotte Says’ in the pool. I have fun doing all the tricks in the pool with my friends.”

Isabelle said, “I like the feeling of the water and I like swimming lessons. Front crawl is my favourite.”

Aiden said, “The showers at the start and the end are nice and hot. I like the feeling of being underwater, there’s no noise.”

Kaelan said, “I’m feeling excited and nervous about the competition, I go swimming outside of school, I like racing in the swimming pool.”
